Joy Beland serves as the Vice President of Cybersecurity Compliance for Summit 7, as well as Board Member for MSPs for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Innocent Lives Foundation. Joy’s path to expertise in CMMC and regulatory standards encompasses decades of experience in both the Managed Service Provider (MSP) and security vendor space. Starting her own MSP in 1997, Joy focused on delivering secure IT solutions to over 85 small and medium businesses in the Los Angeles area for twenty-one years and sold that practice in 2018. Joy’s path to expertise in CMMC and regulatory standards encompasses decades of experience in both the Managed Service Provider (MSP) and security vendor space. Starting her own MSP in 1997, Joy focused on delivering secure IT solutions to over 85 small and medium businesses in the Los Angeles area for twenty-one years and sold that practice in 2018. She then joined the Continuum/ConnectWise family, where she led the development of the MSP industry’s first Cybersecurity Fundamentals bootcamp, educating over 3,000 MSPs in a two-year span.

In 2020, Joy pivoted to the CMMC ecosystem by joining Edwards Performance Solutions as their CMMC Training Program Manager, where she led the team to deliver CMMC’s first ever CMMC Certified Professional (CCP) five-day bootcamp, as well as achieving the coveted Provisional Assessor and Provisional Instructor status with the Cyber AB. In 2022, she joined Summit 7 as the VP of Partnerships, where she built the channel partner program from the ground up while continuing to teach the CCP and CCA classes. In 2024, Joy also partnered with C3PAO firms as their Lead CMMC Certified Assessor for Joint Surveillance Voluntary Assessments with DIBCAC, as a contractor through Summit 7.

Having joined Summit 7 in 2022, Joy was promoted to her current role as VP of Cybersecurity Compliance in 2024, leading Summit 7 through their dual CMMC Level 2 Assessment Certifications and ISO 27001, as well as managing internal readiness for NIST 800-171 R3 and CMMC Level 3 assessments.

Joy’s mission is to incorporate Governance, Risk and Compliance into the daily language and skillset of Service Providers and defense contractors alike, in support of protecting our American dream.

Joy holds the CMMC Lead CCA & PI, CRISC, CISM, and QTE certifications.
